Something I'd forgotten.

It seems I've missed something important from yesterday. The bank topped 400 points for the first time before dropping back to just below that magical line. My £10,000 profit target was also breached before falling back. If this keeps up over the next few days then the staking calculation will change. I've decided to double the stakes on the lower priced selections to £50 a point, whilst keeping the higher priced selections at £25 per point.

Once the £10,000 profit target is officially reached it will mean the bank will stand at £20,000 and should be able to comfortably absorb the higher staking on the lower priced qualifiers. I hope that makes sense to anyone reading. For now though I shall carry on at the original staking levels till the £10,000 plateau is properly breached.

The new stakes will apply to qualifiers under a Betfair Sp of 30 and anything over this line will be calculated at the normal rate.

One of the world's greatest ever composers: Ralph Vaughan Williams is just brilliant in every way.

All I Wanna Do.......

Having watched SlumDog Millionaire on Saturday night my mood was lifted with such a great piece of cinematography. A tale of rag to riches intertwined with a happily ever after love story it reminds the viewer that literally getting covered in shit can end in laughter and good times.

Looking to the week ahead everyone in the world will be embroiled in the trainer and jockey battles at Cheltenham. Which horses have the strength and stamina to overcome the odds and grab the glory?

Well unless your head has been buried in the sand at Southwell you'll have seen the numerous previews and reviews and all the hype and bullshit that goes with it. This week I'll be doing some of my own race reading and hopefully coming up with a few winners of my own but in between all this I've been promising an analysis of a racing tipster so please keep watching the blog because it's going to land in the midst of this weeks action and should give you a break from Cheltenham if only for a few minutes. Stay lucky!! JB

Interest Rates And Inflation

The bank of england is expected to cut interest rates to half of one percent today and at the same time print more money to ease perceived money supply problems caused by commercial banks unwillingness to lend money that they have. A rather simplified view I grant you.

For anyone saving money in a bank (low risk investment product?) account this is a complete disaster. Firstly they are losing money because interest rates are well below the rate of inflation. Secondly, with more money in circulation the value of existing money is going to drop (more inflation).

I'm no financial expert but this looks a very desperate solution if at all it can be called that. The parallel in gambling terms is like betting every favourite at sp prices. Over the long term the bank will be eroded.

Thank the universe for medium/long shots and enhanced odds. I say stick yer headphones on and tune out.

See You Soon Y'Hear?

Well I've got some personal stuff to attend to which will necessitate putting in the updates on Monday rather than tonight or tomorrow. The big win didn't materialise but a decent sized one did which gave a small loss on the day. Monday morning it is then?

"Put Their Own Money On A Horse"

Saw "summat" in the paper today couldn't resist putting it on the blog. I especially liked the horse racing comment. Al Murray is a hero.

Results to Betfair SP

Bit of a cockup earlier. Here's an amended sheet with the Lingfield races added back in at 16.45 and tomorrow's Fontwell races taken out. Soz about that. If you've been playing on did you notice Jago earlier? I managed to get on @ 38. It went off at 14.5! No cigar though but it's happened before and it'll happen again. Keep scalping the value!

The Early Bird Catches The Worm?

Morning/afternoon all! It's brunch time and I'm just looking forward to the day ahead. Firstly the free selections will be online at around 1:30. Racing does indeed look straightforward again today. There are a couple of selections for the free racing system today.

Mogok Ruby8.50 Kempton Forecast 4/1
Run Free4.40 Southwell Forecast 6/1

I've just checked the early prices and run free is available at 8/1. Mogok Ruby is available at a measly 7/2 which means it would need to drift out slightly to become a system qualifier. I would suggest that anyone who gets 4/1 or more before the off would do well to take it. See the update later for more. I would take the 8/1 for run free and hope the price drops later to justify taking an early position.

Comin' Up, Comin' Up....It's Dare!

A point depletion day yesterday and no winners. With UK racing getting back to normal after the Wintry conditions literally froze racing for the past couple of weeks I would expect to see a profit by month's end. For today at least it's a fairly late start and selections will be online at around 14:20.

After yesterday's pondering on the writing direction for this blog I have now thought about some of the content I'd like to pursue in the next few weeks. Firstly for those who have joined the newsletter I am going to send out details of how to treble your profits on the free system that was posted on the blog last week. This will be a newsletter only article. Then moving on I am expecting to add another free system to the blog which is being working on already. Then further down the line I want to examine a tipster service in detail with the pros and cons of the particular service as regards being a novice gambler. If anyone has anything at all they'd like to see on the blog then please get in touch either via the comments or by sending mail.

Quick Update

For those following the system selections on this fine day, once non runners have been accounted for, the selections should be online at around 1.45pm.

So Far So Good...

Since starting this blog barely two weeks or so ago it's been a lot more interesting from my own perspective than I thought it would be. As time has passed more and more writing and experimental ideas have entered my head on a daily basis than have done for a while. I'm the type of person who tends to start 5 jobs and complete 1. I'm used to delegating. But writing on here is a solitary endeavour and I must complete all the tasks myself which I have enjoyed doing so far.

I didn't set out to research and give away free systems or to write reviews and compile interviews but since I went in this direction I think there's more mileage in it to come. Therefore I'm hoping to add some more free systems till a small portfolio has been added to the blog. One horse racing system alone isn't going to bring home the bacon and apart from the systems I personally follow, and post the selections for each day, I wanted to prove that systems can and do work.

Going forwards I don't intend for the blog to go stale but being only one person bringing fresh relevant content to the blog everyday is going to be a huge challenge. Even so it's not as if I need to put myself under that kind of pressure on a daily basis so I'm happy for the content to grow at a pace that I feel comfortable with. Hopefully you the reader won't get tired of reading at the pace I'm writing or intending to write. As much as my ego likes to think there's a multitude of interested readers hanging on my every blog post I'm quite happy to keep writing and see what happens especially since google has started to pick up on the blog and has started indexing pages.

I have decided that having a newsletter is a pointless task unless there is some extra and valuable information to be released by doing so. Something for the more "hardcore blog readers" to get their teeth into. Most times when a newsletter will be written it will contain extra articles that I don't intend to publish on the blog. All I can therefore add to that is to compel you to add your details to the newsletter and receive the extra information through your inbox as and when there's "interesting racing-related stuff" to write about. Help yourself to the form below.

Sun "No Bet" Day

Just a reminder that even though there are system qualifiers I don't personally play Sundays as I like to spend the time with family. I do however usually post the weekly profit and loss to the blog on Sunday evenings. Enjoy your day.

Sun Is Shining

Well, well, well, a full days racing ahead today with NO abandonments and the sun is shining where I am and I hope it is for you too. Today will be the first full day's racing for a long time so let's pray it can be capitalised upon. First race for the systems is 13:40 but there won't be any selections posted till nearer the off because I'd like to take account of as many non runner changes as possible. With the systems running the way they do it's one of the boring but necessary tasks to complete for each day's racing and even then as with yesterday further non runners can crop up during an afternoon. Back later.

A. P. McBoom! 3000

History has been made. Expect to see this on the national news tonight.

But what about backing TcMcoy to win? Well as a backer you will have come up short over the years. With Mr McCoy being so successful and having piloted the better horses in the field over the years the bookies have made plenty by giving very short prices on the great man.

Unlucky!!

Falling at the last fence Ap gets another crack in the 16:20 @ plumpton.

Will Tony The Legend Succeed?

In around 6 minutes time Tony McCoy will try and ride his 3000th jumps winner at Plumpton. With one more under his belt this afternoon AP moved onto his 2999th winner. Will history be made?

Grey Day

It's Monday morning and a fairly damp grey day out there. The forecast for racing this week is once again looking bleaker than Charlie Dicken's house. A number of mid-week meetings have fallen foul of the good ole British weather already but as was printed yesterday "shit happens" the long term is where its at. Despite system performance falling short of average last week it seems that the racing tipsters are having a hard time of it too which is something of a consolation for the system.

Over on JP's betting blog the portfolio of tipsters that JP subscribes to (some of the best in the business) came out with a loss (to JP's staking £100 per point/ 100 point betting bank) of -£810. Meanwhile (also from the same blog) MOB didn't have a winner all week. Well let's hope that we can all pick things up this week and move forward.

Over at Gerry Attrics it seems he is having a profound effect on Thommo's website and claimed horseracing winning tips and if you've not read it yet you ought to head on over there.

Well it's almost time to put up today's racing tips (lol) but one of the world's best ever bands have a message for you:

Sunday Sunday

I don't do Sundays normally although there's still qualifiers for the systems. I tend to have a family day and spend as much time as I can with my youngest daughter, she's only 8 bless! Even so if you're here expecting to see today's racing selections sorry to disapoint but even after a so-so week betting resumes on Monday as usual. There will however be a weekly results roundup later this evening. Enjoy your day wherever you are, it's sunny here so I'll be off out shortly.
